“Somnology Inc. and the National Institute of Diabetes & Digestive & Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) of the National Institutes of Health are collaborating on a research project to use the Somnology Plex® sleep scanner device to determine how controlled diets and sleep environments change sleep metrics in human subjects participating in clinical research studies at the NIH Clinical Center. The collaboration will also develop dynamic mathematical models of the human sleep cycle to be implemented in the Somnology software and mobile application.
Sleep is increasingly recognized as an important contributor to health, but sleep monitoring technology outside the laboratory setting is rudimentary.
