Patrick Yam, CEO and Co-Founder of Somnology states:
“We appreciate and thank the USPTO for their insight and acceptance in recognizing that sleep cannot remain a benign secondary health consideration. With a population exceeding 70 million people domestically affected by sleep disorders this is a health malady that deserves serious attention. Classified in 2018, as an epidemic by the Center for Disease Control (‘CDC’), we need to be conscientious of taking constructive steps towards advancing the critical-care management of sleep disorders.
The allowance of Somnology’s patent applications is a testament and acknowledgment of the knowledge, expertise, and experience attained by our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Melissa Lim over the past 2 decades and, to the success of her medical practice as a board-certified sleep physician at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, CA.
The development of the Somnology Plex® Sleep Scanner as an accurate and mobile digital healthcare device enabling the continuous monitoring of sleep disorders has excited many, including those in the investment community.
As reflected in recent clinical trials with the National Institute of Health (“NIH”) the Plex® is an effective means through which to monitor your sleep character and, manage various health maladies. The Plex is a healthcare means to exert preventive management of chronic and critical-care of health maladies.
Somnology’s mission of ‘Democratizing Sleep’ through allowing for greater access and affordability to enterprise clients and end-users is distinct. Somnology’s enterprise clients benefit from our proprietary technology employed in the Plex®, as well as through our ability to provide full turn-key critical-care medical/clinical services to augment the Plex®. Somnology’s critical-care management solution, SLaaS®, incorporates monitoring, sleep coaching along with physician care of sleep disorders and notably reflects discernible value; especially to the many veterans, Somnology assist.
We look forward to augmenting the increased awareness of sleep as the critical third pillar of health and, towards greater public acceptance that sleep should not remain a benign secondary health consideration.”
