Somnology is proud to be a new addition to RedCrow‘s Discover Supernova platform!
An exciting startup, Somnology challenges the way we think about tracking sleep. Today’s construct of a sleep test is archaic and inflexible: a patient spends a night in a sleep clinic (an unfamiliar bed), obstructed by wiring and a nasal tube, only to get results six months later. “This is by no means an optimal condition to monitor sleep,” says Somnology’s CEO and co-founder, Patrick Yam. “Sleep is dynamic; you need more than a single night’s snapshot to monitor it.”
That’s where Somnology’s patent-pending device, the Plex® Sleep Scanner, comes in. Patients don the Plex (with its medical-grade sensors) at home before bed and wake up to access a personalized sleep report in the morning. “We’re collecting and delivering determinable and actionable data,” Yam adds. We’re aiming to democratize sleep tests and allow for customers to monitor — and change — their greater sleep habits trends and character at an affordable costs.”
The SleepScanner is truly an awakening to better sleep health and habits. “Sleep can no longer be overlooked or considered a benign secondary health consideration,” says Yam. “If you’re not getting proper rest, it can impact other health maladies, including Alzheimer’s, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and, ever important mental acuity.”
Somnology has also partnered with the National Institute of Health in studying the correlation between diabetes and sleep disorders. “70 million Americans affected by sleep disorders don’t get a good night’s sleep. Somnology’s Plex® Sleep Scanner will provide accuracy and convenience towards improving healthcare.” “We’re excited to work with RedCrow,” Yam says.
